3 nights in and already HUGE improvement! Our 8 month old was waking 3 to 4 times a night, crying. All we could do was feed him then put him back to bed. It was a nightmare. We spent hours reading articles and such on the internet. Finally after one really rough night, I decided to give this book a try (i had seen it on a few sites). I was skeptical, the wife thought I was wasting money... but hey, we were at wits end.Night 1 was very rough, but better than we had expected. We got up 3 times, but, we did not feed him. Night 2 was better, but still had one major wakeup around 1:30am where we spent about 40 minutes awake before he went back to sleep. We still didn't feed him (the wife wanted to), so I was happy. That day our energy levels were much better given the better sleep we had during the night. We noticed that day the little one went down for naps much, much easier.Night 3 just ended. The little one cried once during the night, for only about 2 or 3 minutes. We woke up a couple times due to thrashing, but that's it. The key is, neither of us got out of bed even once!Buy this book. I was a believer in the fact that everything is on the internet now, so why buy a book? Articles do just as good a job, right? Wrong. This book is incredible. As we're only 3 nights in, if things start to decline, I'll update this review. That said, I did not expect to have only one crying fit by night 3. I did not expect to not get out of bed at all by night 3. Thank you, Dr. Ferber!I like how Ferber explains how sleep works and how the ... Dr. Ferber is a genius! I completely did not understand, and got the wrong idea about the Ferber method before i got this book. After, reading the book and understanding how exactly it works, i was relieved to find that it isn't just letting your baby cry for an hour by themselves. People who talk this method down, just don't really understand it. My 5 month old son would only fall asleep to the bottle. He would wake in the middle of the night needing either a pacifier, bottle, or to be held to go back to sleep. I like how Ferber explains how sleep works and how the wrong sleep associations for a child are important and it made perfect sense when I thought about it. I did the the sleep training and i am now on the third day. My son falls asleep completely on his own without needing to held to sleep or, fed to sleep, or using a pacifier. He now falls asleep completely on his own within 3-10mins of me putting him down in his crib and he sleeps completely through the night. I wish i got this book weeks ago. I am sooooo happy i bought this book. I would recommend it to any new parent trying to sleep train their 4month and up babies.
